Relevant information:
August 19th was selected, under Resolution by the UN General Assembly A/RES/63/139 in 2008, to commemorate the 2003 terrorist attack on the headquarters of the UN Assistance Mission in Baghdad, which killed 22, including Sergio Vieira de Mello, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Iraq, and injured over 100.
The campaign launched by the United Nations this year, titled “Share Humanity,” intends to inform about the courage and determination of humanitarian workers and urges increased use of social networks to transmit a message of solidarity in the name of humanity’s shared values.
